CSMMUA Q1 2026: Coordinating Evidence-Based Action for SRHR in Uganda

The Coalition to Stop Maternal Mortality due to Unsafe Abortion (CSMMUA) recently convened its 2026 Quarter One meeting, that we were part of.  The gathering brought together a diverse movement of member organizations to sharpen advocacy efforts and reinforce the collective fight for women’s health and reproductive rights in Uganda. A central focus of the meeting was the strategic planning surrounding Supreme Court Constitutional Appeal No. 1 of 2026 (arising from Petition 10). Recognizing the significant implications of this case for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Uganda, members aligned their thematic expertise to ensure a robust, evidence-based legal response. Members spent the session reviewing the coalition’s 2026 priorities across the different thematic areas to get clarity on where each organization can contribute effectively. The outcomes of this meeting will now be presented to the Steering Committee for final guidance, setting the stage for a year of bold advocacy and legal action.
